All of us get frustrated at times because we don’t see the results we are aiming for. Instead of appreciating how far we have already come, we compare ourselves to other athletes. Pentathlete Samantha Achterberg once said: “Comparison is the thief of joy!”. What first seems like an oxymoron, because sport means competition and therefore comparison, is actually very true. When it comes down to your development focus on yourself rather than other athletes of your field, because that’s when you start to lose confidence in yourself. Analyze your strengths and your weaknesses and go from there. Everyone has to overcome different obstacles and setbacks. All you see is the success of others but you barely ever notice how many times they have failed and picked up themselves to progress. You will shine when it’s your time.
